(Jan. 12) - After speculation arose that 'Twilight' actor Taylor Lautner wasn't built enough to reprise his role as Jacob Black, he went straight to the gym to bulk up and prove he was ready to return for 'New Moon.' Lautner told Access Hollywood that he has already put on 26 pound of muscle and jokes, "Jacob is in and Edward is out."

The casting reportedly was in question because the character of Jacob Black is a foot taller and is supposed to look 25 in the sequel. In order to guarantee his return, Lautner decided to bulk up.
The 16-year-old admits he now goes to the gym seven days a week and works out at least two hours a day. He even made a promise to director Chris Weitz that he would put on 30 pounds of muscle before filming began.

On January 7, 'Twlight' author Stephenie Meyer confirmed Lautner would be retuning to play Jacob Black. On her official Web site, she writes, "I'm truly thrilled that Taylor ... proved to the director, to Summit (Entertainment, producers of the film) and to me that he is the best possible Jacob we could have. And I'm very much looking forward to seeing what he's going to bring to Jacob's character this year."
